The Separate Article Rule or SAR is a rule established for separating the subjects into articles to make the articles easier for the readers to read.
Naming articles
If the character made an appearance in a video game and another form of media (ex. comics, film, television series). Their main article must have their name while the other article about their appearance has parentheses.
- Examples:
- Mario, Mario (The Super Mario Bros. Movie)
- Princess Peach, Princess Toadstool (DiC Cartoons)
If the character is a completely different character who happens to have the same names, write their appearance in the series.
- Examples
- Captain Goomba (Mario Party 8), Captain Goomba (Mario & Luigi series)
- Francis (Super Paper Mario), Francis (The Super Mario Bros. Movie)
Splitting articles
Depending on the bytes of the article, one of the sections needs to have a subpage. This is to minimise the load time for the article. You can check at Special:LongPages.
Bytes | Priority |
---|---|
> 1OOkB | Needs a subpage of an article. |
< 60kB | May need a subpage. |
< 50kB | Least concern. |
List of subpages to split into
The list is only if the page has a lot of bytes.
- /Appearances: Contains headings of "In <game>/<media>". This can go under the "Timeline" header with {{Main}}. Example of category for an article: Category:Character appearances
- Appearances/<media>: If the bytes of the sub-article goes over 100kB, choose the largest section and move it. Example of category for an article: Category:Character appearances
- /Relationships: Contains a heading of "Relationships". Example of category for an article: Category:Character relationships
- /Real-world influences: Contains the heading of "Real-world influences".
