Mario Tennis is a game for the Nintendo 64. It is the second installment of the Mario Tennis series, following after Mario's Tennis for the Virtual Boy. It has a counterpart for the Game Boy Color also titled Mario Tennis. The game went on to receive a sequel, titled Mario Power Tennis.
This game was a milestone in Mario history as it marked the debut of Waluigi as well as Birdo from Super Mario Bros. 2 and Princess Daisy from Super Mario Land; all three would go on to be playable characters in several Mario spin-off games.

Trivia[]
- During the development of the game, along with the introduction of Waluigi, the developers were also going to introduce a bad version of Princess Peach named WaruPichi, but this character was scrapped due to Shigeru Miyamoto's disliking of the idea of having an "evil Peach" and have decided to revive Princess Daisy instead, who hadn't appeared since the 1993 Super Mario Bros. film (Super Mario Land if referring to the games alone).
