Mario Clash is a microgame which first appears in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! and returns in WarioWare Gold. In its debut appearance, it is under the Nintendo Classics folder of microgames, being one of 9-Volt's microgames. WarioWare Gold makes it one of 5-Volt's microgames, placing it in the Mash League's Nintendo Classics stage. WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$! features the original iteration of the microgame from WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!, just as with every other microgame from said game.

Gameplay in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!

Mario Clash is directly based on the Virtual Boy game of the same name. Its objective is the same as the namesake game's core gameplay mechanic: throwing a Turtle Shell at an enemy to defeat it. As such, the command displayed just before the microgame starts is "Throw!". All three difficulty settings feature a different enemy, with each difficulty featuring a harder enemy to defeat. Regardless of difficulty, the condition for losing is if Mario misses when throwing the Turtle Shell or if he does not throw it at all. Mario can neither move around nor adjust the aim of the Turtle Shell, which is always thrown to the center of a small platform in front of him.

In Level 1, Mario has to defeat a Spike Top, which only walks back and forth and passes through the target spot twice during the microgame.

In Level 2, Mario instead has to defeat a Boo. Its behavior consists of floating down to the target spot once, then floating back up.

In Level 3, the enemy is a Para-Goomba, which jumps around, landing on the target spot once for a short period of time

In WarioWare Gold, Mario Clash remains relatively the same, although Level 3 instead requires the player to hit the Para-Goomba twice. Because of this, the command for Level 3 is instead "Throw and hit 2!"

Trivia[]

  • The layout used within the microgame is unique and is not used anywhere within Mario Clash itself.
