Mario Artist: Paint Studio is a Nintendo 64DD game released exclusively in Japan on December 11, 1999. It is the first game of the Mario Artist series and a sequel to Mario Paint. Like its predecessor, Mario Artist: Paint Studio allowed for users to create their own drawings and customize them through a variety of means, and similarly featured its own mouse accessory, Nintendo 64 Mouse.
It is known for featuring cameo appearances of artwork of Nintendo characters as graphics that could be placed on a drawing. Examples include all 151 Genenration I Pokémon or even Banjo-Kazooie characters.
