"Pasta power!"
—Mario

Mario is a plumber who lives in Brooklyn with Luigi. Mario is based off the Nintendo character.

Profile[]

Physical description[]

Mario is a short overweight Italian man with a thick black mustache, black eyebrows and black hair with blue eyes. He wears a red cap with white gloves and a long-sleeved blue shirt and red overalls, which is the opposite of his gaming counterpart's current red shirt and blue overalls, matching his original appearance in Donkey Kong and his appearance in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels as well as Super Mario Bros. 2. In his Super form, he wears a white cap, a long-sleeved red shirt and white overalls, which is the opposite of Fire Mario's current color scheme since Super Mario World, matching his fire form sprite in Super Mario Bros..

Personality traits[]

Mario is optimistic, determined and aggressive.

Mario has a fixation of food. This is seen where Mario is hungry and fascinated with Italian food (mostly pizza and pasta), typically wanting to stop Bowser's latest scheme simply so he can eat and going to nearly any length to do so. In fact, in the The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "Koopenstein," when Toadstool asked him if he ever thought about anything besides food, Mario, with pure honesty, replied, "What else is there?"

Speech[]

Mario speaks with an Italian accent.

Family[]

His mother appears in several episodes, depicting her as a strict woman who loves her boys. His father did not appear in the show, and very little is known about him. The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! make references or depict various other relatives of Mario, including aunts, uncles, and cousins, although none have appeared in any games.

The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! reveals that Mario has a pair of nieces named Marianne and Luigeena, and two nephews called Mario Joe and Luigi Bob, though like the two grandmothers, it is not known if they hail from Mia's or Papa's side of the family. The same goes for Aunt Luigeena and Aunt Maria (who was mentioned in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3): either one could be a sister or a sister-in-law of Mia's.

Powers and abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Pyrokinesis: In his fire form, Mario can summon fireballs.
  • Transformation: Mario can transform when he uses power-ups. Mario used the first power-up, the Fire Flower to free Luigi from the snow and escape.
