Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a crossover Nintendo Switch role-playing game that features characters in both the Mario franchise and the Raving Rabbids series. This is the second Mario game released for the Nintendo Switch, following Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. A sequel titled Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope was released on October 20, 2022.
Gameplay[]
Three playable characters (four in escort levels) use their movement and weapons to defeat enemies. All heroes have 2 movement functions: Team jump and dash. Dashing can only be done once a turn (unless upgraded in the Skill Tree) and does a varied amount of damage. Any character that has not already performed a team jump can jump onto another non-KOed hero and land some distance away. There are 4 kinds of battles:
- Defeat all battles. The heroes must use their movement and weapons to defeat all the enemies on the battlefield.
- Defeat n enemies battles. The heroes must defeat a certain number of enemies.
- Reach area battles. At least one hero must use their movement to reach a certain area (highlighted in yellow).
- Escort battles. The heroes must protect Toad/Toadette/Spawny and help them reach a certain area.

Plot[]
Earth[]
In the basement, a young inventor is making some adjustments for the SupaMerge in hopes of having solved the overheating problem so she can help solve an energy crisis in her world with the help from Beep-0, but upon testing it, it ends up overheating again and they decide to take a break as the girl leaves. The Time Washing Machine arrived in the basement and a horde of Rabbids emerge and begin to wreak havoc and one of the Rabbids gets a hold of the SupaMerge device and Beep-0 can only watch as the Rabbids continue to make a mess of things, but it goes from bad to worse when the Rabbid begins using the SupaMerge to fuse the Rabbids with objects that they had and resulted in the creations of Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Mario and caused the Time Washing Machine to pull all of the Rabbids back in, including Beep-0 and the Super Mario poster, transporting them to the Mushroom Kingdom.
Arrival at the Mushroom Kingdom[]
A ceremony takes place in the Mushroom Kingdom where the statue of Princess Peach is unveiled as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, and Toadette along with numerous Toads were attending. Everything soon falls apart as the vortex in the sky forms and pulls everyone into it. As they fall, Beep-0 gained rabbit ears as well as the outline of the Rabbids' teeth on the front and chastised the Rabbid with the SupaMerge, but the Rabbid had already lost control over the device and ends up merging with it before merging other Rabbids with objects. Beep-0 almost got crushed by the Time Washing Machine but is saved by Mario.
Ancient Gardens[]
Once the dust clears and everyone lands on the ground, Mario encounters Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Luigi but with the SupaMerge's energy becoming corrupted during the transit to the Mushroom Kingdom, the merged Rabbids were rendered hostile, and Beep-0 made the mission to find the Rabbid who merged with the headset. The mysterious F.B., who sends Beep-0 messages throughout the adventure sends the heroes their weapons to fight against the Rabbids. During their travels, they get a glimpse of the vortex which would be referred to as the Megabug. They make it to Princess Peach's Castle where the princess herself was just fine, but Rabbid Peach isn't impressed with her attire. During their exploration through Ancient Gardens, they find Luigi and the Rabbid with the headset, who then merges an ordinary Rabbid with a Pirahna Plant to become a Pirrabbid Plant and they engage in battle with it. After that Rabbid Peach tries to take a selfie with it only to be snatched up, but she does get a selfie in before the heroes free her and restore the monster to normal. Luigi joins the team, but Beep-0 noticed that the Megabug is increasing in size. Bowser Jr. is seen observing it and later befriends the Rabbid with the SupaMerge and names him Spawny. Bowser Jr. intends to take over the Mushroom Kingdom while using Spawny's power to create merged armies to accomplish it while his father, Bowser is on vacation. He summons Rabbid Kong to deal with Mario and his friends, but they managed to defeat him with Rabbid Peach pushing off the tall tower with Rabbid Kong still on it and takes selfies and shares them with Rabbid Luigi, although they would not let Luigi himself look, which he tries to sneak a peek.
Sherbet Desert[]
Mario's team then ventured to Sherbet Desert where they solve numerous puzzles and fight other corrupted Rabbids along the way. As they venture deeper, they find Rabbid Mario trapped in a block of ice and Toad carries him and puts him in the door to help free him, but Rabbid Mario saw and pushes himself out of the door and joins them while befriending Mario. They continue their expedition through the desert, but Bowser Jr. saw them heading in their direction and intimidates Spawny into looking away to create Blizzy and Sandy. The heroes are soon ambushed by Blizzy, who imprisons them in a block of ice, but luckily, Princess Peach arrives to save two of the heroes while Sandy keeps the other hero trapped in the refrigerator. However, Mario and his friends managed to defeat the duo and free the frozen hero.
Spooky Trails[]
Mario's team then heads to Spooky Trails where they would find the Moon Gate that can only open with the Relics of Goodness, a gramophone and a Boo-shaped balloon, under the instruction of a mysterious third party who wants them to wake up a being named "Tom Phan" who they claim has the power to defeat Bowser Jr. After finding the relics, they discover through a message from the mysterious helper that they need a full moon. They run into Calavera, who is holding Rabbid Yoshi hostage throughout the battle, and after Calavera is defeated and Rabbid Yoshi is freed, the latter exacts his revenge on the beast. They reach the clock tower where they have to turn the hands back to get the full moon in just the right position to finally open the gate. Bowser Jr. is revealed to have been behind the mysterious messages and scares Spawny into fusing a Rabbid with a gramophone and the Boo-shaped balloon, creating the Phantom of the Bwahpera, who proceeds to sing an insulting song about Mario and his series throughout the battle, and is soundly defeated by the heroes.
Lava Pit[]
Mario and his friends head to the Lava Pit where they discovered that Bowser Jr. turned the volcano into his base of operations. They traverse through the harsh environment where they eventually run into Jr. again, this time piloting the Mecha Jr., but he would then be defeated and Spawny falls off the ledge, much to Jr.'s horror and leaves in despair. Fortunately, Spawny was saved by Yoshi, who joins the team as they escort Spawny out of the crystal caves. However, Spawny finds himself hypnotized by the energy of the Megabug, now in its phoenix form and absorbs him and flies to Bowser's Castle. Bowser Jr. returned to chastise them for their carelessness with Spawny and saw that the Megabug was at his home and is at first relieved that his father is still on vacation, only to get a text from Bowser that he is returning home early, to Jr.'s shock and rushed there, knowing his father will be in danger. The heroes follow but are intercepted by Bwario and Bwaluigi and the Lava Queen and managed to best them. Once they arrived at Bowser's Castle, Jr. then pleads for them to help Bowser, who is barely conscience and close to the Megabug, who then fuses with him to become MegaDragonBowser and fights against the heroes, but after a tough fight, Bowser is soon liberated and the Megabug then charges at the heroes, who combine their ammunition to destroy the Megabug, closing the vortex and freeing Spawny. Bowser Jr. realized the mess he made and promised to do better and asked them to speak to Bowser on his behalf to sort out the situation he created. The heroes return to Princess Peach's Castle where the statue of Rabbid Peach is inaugurated as Rabbid Peach herself gets all of her new friends in a group photo. After this, Beep-0 sends a letter to his past self with weapons through the Time Washing Machine, revealing that F.B. is actually Future Beep-0.
