Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is the Nintendo DS handheld release of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, following after the handheld Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games as the second and last Nintendo DS title in the Mario & Sonic series. It was created to coincide with the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. The game is similar to the original, but with different events, new characters and several big changes in gameplay and control schemes. Like its predecessor, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games received a dual release on both the Nintendo DS and Wii.
Unlike the Wii version, there is a single-player Adventure Tours mode revolving around a plot involving Bowser and Dr. Eggman's scheme to melt all the snow on Winter Island by capturing the snow spirits to cancel the 2010 Winter Olympics in favor of their own.
