Conditions

  • The nomination will be held for three days. The votes of the page excluding the nominator will count.
  • Put your response on the section of the article.
  • To vote for an article, use {{support}}, {{oppose}} and {{comment}} before your response. If it has not been included, we will put it before your response.
  • Reason why you support or oppose. If you chose neutral or oppose, mention how the article can improve.
  • Use clean language when voting and do not censor words. If this happens, then the bad words will be removed.
  • Everyone is entitled to opinions, think nicely on what you say to others if you disagree or agree.
  • Do not vote for the article just because you love or hate it. Comments similar to the following will be removed:
    • "I support [character article] because he/she is a great character."
    • "I oppose [item article]. Who needs this trashy [item]? It is overrated!
  • Do not reply on the "Results" section, that is where administrators respond to the results.
  • Add signature with four tildes.

Criteria

So just what makes a featured article? Well, we have prepared a list just in case someone should ask that, and it is as follows.

An article must...

  1. ...be well written and detailed
  2. ...be unbiased and have a neutral point of view
  3. ...be factual and not incorporate theory presented as fact
  4. ...be properly sourced if controversial information is entered into it
  5. ...not be tagged with any sort of improvement templates (i.e. cleanup, expand, etc.)
  6. ...have a succinct proper lead that can be used for the front page featured box
  7. ...have a complete, detailed biography if it is a character article
  8. ...not be the subject of any ongoing edit wars

See here for a list of current featured articles on MarioWiki. For more information on what makes a featured article, see Wikipedia:Wikipedia's treatise on featured articles.

How to Nominate an Article

  1. First, nominate an article you find is worthy of featured status, putting it at the bottom of the list below; see criteria above. In addition, add {{nominated}} to the top of the article you are nominating so other users will know of and vote on the nomination.
  2. Certain users may object to the nomination if they disagree that the article is good enough; they must then supply reasons for doing so, and ways to improve the article (errors, style, organization, images, notability, sources). If no reason is supplied, their vote will not be counted until they do this.
  3. Supporters adjust the article until the objectors (with reasonable objections) are satisfied.
  4. The article is placed on the featured article list and added to the front page queue.
