Not to be confused with Mama Mario, a character in a few The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! live-action segments.

"Mama Mia Mario" is the eleventh live-action segment of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. It is paired with the animated episode "The Great BMX Race."

Plot[]

Mario and Luigi are enjoying their lazy lifestyle, only to have it interrupted when an insect tells them over the phone that their mother is coming to visit, and she's a stickler for cleanliness. So the Bros. are forced to clean up the basement just as she arrives. Mama then shows up and proceeds to boss the two around, making them clean up all over the city and smacking their heads with her purse. However, she soon leaves after getting a phone call telling her that she's won the lottery. Just as the Marios are returning to their messy lifestyle, however, they get an even worse fate, a visit from Aunt Luigeena.

Trivia[]

  • Luigi is playing a Nintendo Entertainment System at the beginning (the controller can be seen in his hands).
  • Mama is obviously played by Mario's actor, Lou Albano; this explains why she and Mario himself are never shown onscreen at the same time during this episode. (The only exception to this is right when Mama leaves following a The Legend of Zelda preview, but she is obscured by the door and is possibly being played by a different person at that point with Albano's voice dubbed over.) Similarly, Aunt Luigeena is played by Danny Wells (Luigi's actor), hence why Luigi leaves right when she arrives.
  • Aunt Luigeena is possibly the namesake to the Marios' cousin of the same name in "Marianne and Luigeena."
