Mama Mario is the mother of Mario and Luigi, who call her Mama Mia. She appears in some Mario media, generally outside of the games. She first appears in the Super Mario Issun-bōshi story of Amada Anime Series: Super Mario Bros..

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[]
This is the first video game appearance of Mario and Luigi's mother and father, both of whom are only seen their her lower half and hands. Once Yoshi rescues the stork and Baby Luigi, the stork takes Baby Mario and Baby Luigi and goes to deliver them to their parents. The stork flies to an unnamed town surrounded by mountains and leaves the baby brothers on the doorstep of a mushroom-shaped house. The parents awake, turn on a light, open the door, and happily hold up Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, the latter of whom is held by Mama Mario.
Yoshi's Island DS[]
Mama Mario and Papa Mario make a short appearance in the opening sequence, featuring a short retelling of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, in which Baby Mario and Baby Luigi are seen in the hands of one of their parents.
Yoshi's New Island[]
The game takes place directly after the events of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. In the opening cutscene, it is revealed that the stork had delivered Mario and Luigi to the wrong parents. In the ending, the stork delivers the Mario Bros. to their real mother and father.

Mama Mario appears in the Super Mario Issun-bōshi story. there face is not seen she appears along with her husband. Her hands and feet appear in the montage of their son growing up in the remake of the Three Inch Boy.

"Mama Mia Mario"[]
After Mama Mario is coming to Mario Bros. Plumbing, Mario and Luigi quickly try to clean up as fast as possible. Mama Mario than comes to the shop and hits Luigi in the head and lectures him. Mama than makes Mario and Luigi clean up things and than locks Mario out of the shop until they clean the Brooklyn Bridge. Mama than yells and Luigi and tells him to stop being lazy and help his brother. Mama than leaves and Mario gets back in the shop and saying although he loves her he would want her to leave. Luigi agrees but says she better than their aunt but Mama overheard them and yells at them to keep working. Luigi calls his mother saying she won the lottery and then she leaves but just after their Aunt comes in the house.
"Super Plant"[]
Mama Mario leaves her plant in the care of Mario and Luigi. The brothers realize that the plant is dying much to their dismay. The brothers get a doctor to help the plant which helps it music to the happiness of Mama Mario.
"Fake Bro"[]
Mario and Luigi find their long lost brother Pietro who is told about them from a ConMan. Apparently he brought such shame to Mama Mario than he ran away from home. Mario and Luigi find Pietro and quiz him about the family which he gets 100% on. It is later shown that Pietro just researched about the family and made up the story about their mother.
"Little Marios"[]
In a flashback we see Mario Luigi and Mama Mario and after many times Mama getting mad at Mario he thinks that’s she does not love him. Mario runs away although Mama and Luigi enjoy there time without him. Mario comes back but Mama says that she did not miss him but she reveals that she loved him all along.

"Family Album 'The Early Years'"[]
The comic features various photographs of Mario's early life. In one of them, Mario was being bathed by his mother in the kitchen sink, but Mario played with the locking pliers and detached the sink's faucet, sending a stream of water into his mother's face.
