Template:Enemy Magikoopas are a subspecies of Koopa Troopas that can cast spells. They wear blue robes and hats resembling the garb of a wizard, and wield wands. They are generally considered to be high-ranking members of the Koopa Troop, and some act as personal advisers for King Bowser Koopa. Kamek, the leader of the Magikoopas, appeared in several installments of the Yoshi series. He was usually the main villain or assistant to the main villain. Kamek was the only Magikoopa that appeared in the Yoshi games.

Kamek is an example of a Magikoopa.

Magikoopas attack by firing spells that can not only injure Mario, but transform certain blocks into enemies and 1-up mushrooms. Magikoopas magic spells are represented as a sequence of a red square, a blue circle and a green triangle that constantly spin. Paper Mario introduced several variants of Magikoopas, each wearing different colored robes and having different abilities. Regular Magikoopas, who are only encountered in Bowser's Castle, possess all of these abilities. These various colors make appearances in other games. Magikoopas are also playable characters in Mario Superstar Baseball. Magikoopa's also appear in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga where they are only fought on the final level Bowser's Castle. They mainly attack Mario and Luigi by hurling spells at them.

The most prominent Magikoopa to be seen numerous times is Kamek, first appearing in Super Mario World 2 trying to kidnap Baby Mario off of Yoshi's back.

The Magikruiser in Mario Kart Wii is named after Magikoopas, and bears their appearance on the front. The Koopalings in New Super Mario Bros. Wii also wield wands similar to those of a Magikoopa's.

Another Magikoopa appears as a boss in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars where he is fought at Bowser's Keep. After defeating him in battle, it turns out that he was hypnotized into working for the Smithy Gang and, upon seeing Bowser in Mario's party, decides to help out by producing a treasure chest that holds infinite amount of coins.
