Madame Clairvoya (マダム・ミエール Madamu Miēru?), the Freaky Fortune Teller, is a female Portait Ghost character who appears in Luigi's Mansion and its Nintendo 3DS version.
Profile[]
Physical description[]
Madame Clairvoya is a light blue ghost who wears a purple veil in front of her mouth bearing the symbol of an eye, a reference to the mark of the seer. Madame Clairvoya's clothing consists of a long, red dress, a dark purple headscarf, and jewelry including a golden necklace, two hoop earrings, and a bracelet on each arm. Madame Clairvoya's eyes are yellow, and she has a purple eye shadow.
Personality[]
Madame Clairvoya is unlike the other Portrait Ghosts of the mansion in that she is willingly helpful and friendly to Luigi. Madame Clairvoya is a fortune-teller, and she offers to help Luigi discover where Mario is found if he gives Mario's items for her to analyze.
Madame Clairvoya is always concentrated on her crystal ball, which provides her contact with the spirit world. She sometimes confuses words while dialoguing with others before correcting herself. Madame Clairvoya is shown to be afraid of Bowser, when she further reveals King Boo's plan to Luigi. As soon as Madame Clairvoya learns of Bowser's presence in the mansion, her dialogues become a more nervous tone. Madame Clairvoya's impatience is briefly shown when Luigi presents Mario's second item to her, as Madame Clairvoya tries to get the crystal ball to analyze a clue.
In Luigi's Mansion[]
Madame Clairvoya is first encountered by Luigi in Area Two but fought by him in Area Three. She resides in the Fortune Teller's Room on the first floor. Madame Clairvoya does not reveal herself to Luigi unless he shines his flashlight on the crystal ball. Luigi must wait for the crystal ball to light up and shine for Madame Clairvoya to reveal herself.
To capture Madame Clairvoya, Luigi must bring his five items he finds within his search through the mansion, including Mario's Shoe, Mario's Glove, Mario's Cap, Mario's Letter, and Mario's Star, all of which can only be presented to Madame Clarivoya individually and in any order. Whenever Luigi presents Madame Clairvoya an item, she talks about the item and what she sees in her crystal ball. After this, she predicts the "evil arrival of Bowser," who is actually King Boo. Madame Clairvoya explains how she is afraid of Bowser and wants to be a portrait ghost again. She blocks the doors, and willingly exposes her heart to Luigi. He then sucks her up with the Poltergust 3000 and she is returned to her portrait.
