Mad Adder is a supporting boss who appears in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

It is a giant, purple, mechanical snake who is under the control of Domino. Its sprite is a palette swap of Earth Link's.

Battle

The Mad Adder appears only if Mario and his team defeats Cloaker instead of Domino first. Domino will then hop onto his snake Mad Adder and begin the second phase of the battle. In battle, the Mad Adder is capable of using strong attacks such as Boulder and even Water Blast and may attack with poisonous bites.

Strategy

Mad Adder has much less HP than Cloaker's snake, Earth Link, so it is recommended to fight Mad Adder. The team should attack normally until it falls.

Behind the scenes

Etymology

The Mad Adder's name is a pun on the Alice in Wonderland character Mad Hatter, but with "Hatter" being replaced "Adder," a word referring to venomous snakes in general.
