Luigi's Mansion

Luigi's NEW Mansion is a location in Luigi's Mansion and its Nintendo 3DS version.

Description[]

Luigi's NEW Mansion is a home of Luigi's that briefly appears in the ending of Luigi's Mansion. Its appearance depends on how much treasure that Luigi has collected during his journey. This is very similar to the ending of Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, in which the new home that the Genie gives Wario during the ending depends on how much treasure Wario had collected during his journey.

Luigi's Mansion[]

LM Rank A Mansion

The Rank A mansion, as seen in the epilogue of Luigi's Mansion

After Luigi defeats King Boo, followed by the ending credits, an epilogue is shown where it says that Professor E. Gadd delightfully decided to build a new house for Luigi using all of the treasure that Luigi had founded during his journey. If Luigi earns Rank A, the mansion becomes a large manor with the letter "L" marking its front. Each lower rank provides progressively smaller and smaller houses, culminating in a tent for Rank H. After Luigi's NEW Mansion is shown, the scene transitions into a painting within a framed portrait. The total amount of money collected is briefly shown at the bottom-right, right after a small, red "The End" notice is shown. The mansion ranks, the amount of money required, and their corresponding message includes:

  • Rank A: Finish the game with 100,000,000G to 129,999,999G. (Message: "Congratulations! Your mansion is complete!")
  • Rank B: Finish the game with 70,000,000 to 99,999,999G. (Message: "Welcome to Luigi's NEW Mansion!")
  • Rank C: Finish the game with 60,000,000 to 69,999,999G. (Message: "Welcome to Luigi's NEW Mansion!")
  • Rank D: Finish the game with 50,000,000 to 59,999,999G. (Message: "Welcome to Luigi's NEW Mansion!")
  • Rank E: Finish the game with 40,000,000 to 49,999,999G. (Message: "Welcome to Luigi's NEW Mansion!")
  • Rank F: Finish the game with 20,000,000 to 39,999,999G. (Message: "Welcome to Luigi's NEW Mansion!")
  • Rank G: Finish the game with 5,000,000 to 19,999,999G. (Message: "Welcome to Luigi's NEW Mansion!")
  • Rank H: Finish the game with 5,000 to 4,999,999G. (Message: "The haunted mansion disappeared without a trace...")

The lowest amount of money that Luigi can have by the end is 5,000G, as King Boo's crown is the only required collectible, automatically obtained upon defeating King Boo.

In PAL releases, the total amount of money required for Rank A is increased to 150,000,000G. It is only possible to achieve an A Rank in the Hidden Mansion, as it contains more money than the original Mansion in the PAL version.

The Rank D Mansion appears during the opening, having a nearly identical appearance as in Luigi's Mansion except for some wear in the outer walls and a different fence.

Luigi's Mansion (Nintendo 3DS)[]

LM3DS Luigi's NEW Mansion Rank S

The remake features differently designed paintings of Luigi's NEW Mansion than in the original Luigi's Mansion. Aside from retaining the original ranks, the game also adds another rank:

  • Rank S: Finish the game with 130,000,000G or more. (Message: "Congratulations! Your mansion is complete!")

In Mario Kart series[]

The Rank A Mansion is seen in the background of GCN Luigi Circuit in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart DS. In the former game, the mansion is modeled, whereas in the latter, it is only stored as a texture.
