"Love 'Em and Leave 'Em" is the eighth animated episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. It is paired with the live-action segment "Will the Real Elvis Please Shut Up!".

Plot[]

Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, and Toad arrive in Rotunda Land. Queen Rotunda is in love with the slim Prince Pompadour and has her witch Hildie make her a love potion to make him fall in love with her. Hilde makes a love potion known as a Passion Potion, guaranteeing that it will work.

Meanwhile Mario and Co. are startled by a strange beeping sound. Mario reveals that it's his Red-Hot Pepper Detector the group follows the detector to find the peppers that appear to be growing in a farm. They pick the peppers but are intercepted by Beezo Knights. The Knights inform the group that they are stealing the peppers from Queen Rotunda. The Princess points out that the peppers are growing wild but the Knights claim everything in the land belongs to Queen Rotunda. In an attempt to escape the group gives back the peppers but they are not allowed to go as Queen Rotunda has been looking for someone to throw into her dungeon. The group runs but is captured.

Later, Queen Rotunda is told about the robbery and leaves to sentence her prisoners. Hildie gives her the Passion Potion, just in case Prince Pompadour comes. In a Queen of Hearts style, she sentences her prisoners to death by beheading, but is distracted when she tastes a cake made by the royal chef and dislikes it. Seeing a way out of death, Mario offers to make her a special dessert of "hot pepper pistachio ice cream." Intrigued, the Queen orders him to make it, saying she'll execute them after she's tried it. Mario brings the Queen his dessert and she tastes it. The ice cream is so hot that she runs around screaming for water. Mario ignorantly grabs the Passion Potion and gives it to her. Queen Rotunda drinks the potion, and since Mario is in front of her ,she is instantly stricken by love, much to the plumber's dismay. In spite of her love for Mario, Queen Rotunda refuses to release her prisoners but at least gives them a stay of execution locking them in a dungeon instead. After capturing Mario, Queen Rotunda sets out to send out wedding invitations and puts Mario on a strict diet and exercise program.

Looking to escape, Princess Toadstool uses a ruse on the guards claiming her friends have escaped. The guard foolishly opens the door and is captured. The group escapes and Peach has the idea they must make another Passion Potion. Luigi then dumps the potion into a couple of champagne flutes and Mario proposes a toast to Queen Rotunda and Prince Pompadour (the latter of whom is attending the wedding for no known reason). The pair drinks and falls in love. However, Luigi accidentally drops the Passion Potion into the punch and Hildie drinks some and she is instantly smitten with love for Luigi. The group runs to evade the new match.
