London Loop is a race track that was first seen in Mario Kart Tour. Hence its name, it takes place within London, the capital city of England and the United Kingdom. Mario Kart 8 for the Nintendo Switch would later get this course for downloadable content.

Layout[]

On all three routes, the racers start on a road that goes by the Big Ben clocktower at the south of the level. The first route focuses on the metropolitan areas, the second route brings the outskirts to the spotlight, and the third route focuses on the River Thames, a river that cuts through London in real life. Chain Chomps can be found in the grass patches, one of which is encountered in the first and third routes and lies near the corner of the city (in the northeast corner), and the other which is encountered in the opposite corner (to the southwest of the centre).

The first lap of the Mario Kart 8 version focuses on London Loop 1, the second lap focuses on London Loop 2, and the final lap focuses on London Loop 3 (albeit going down it in reverse due to the original London Loop 3 going counter-clockwise while the first two routes went clockwise).

Trivia[]

  • There is a real-world location called the London Outer Orbital Path, which is alternatively called the "London Loop," the same as this course's name.
  • London Loop's use of rock music comes from British rock music from the 1960's. This is referenced by the course's placement in the Rock Cup of the Booster Course Pass. Several melodies bear a resemblance to Rock Rock Mountain's theme.
