"Little Red Riding Princess" is the forty-fourth animated episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. The entire story is a parody of Little Red Riding Hood, with Princess Toadstool having a starring role within the episode. "Little Red Riding Princess is paired with the live-action segment "No Way to Treat a Queenie."

Plot[]

Princess Toadstool is going through the woods to visit her sick grandmother, and she takes the others along with her. However, when they reach the woodcutter's house they find all the people inside are frozen and there is no wood for the fire. Toad volunteers to get some wood but the group is confronted by King Koopa, who throws a Bob-omb onto the house, causing the Marios to be buried in snow. He leaves thinking that his enemies are frozen but Toad pops out of the snow and rescues them. After being thawed out, Toadstool goes off to see her grandmother alone, telling her companions that they need to cut wood for the villagers. As she's on her way, the Big Bad Wolf appears and mistakes her for Little Red Riding Hood, so he races to Grandma's house. King Koopa sees the Princess as well, and after learning that the Marios are not accompanying her, takes off to Grandma's house too.

Meanwhile, Grandma Toadstool is at home preparing soup when King Koopa arrives, dressed as a messenger gives her a telegram claiming that she's won a year's supply of firewood. He then urges her to leave quickly and even gives her his snowmobile. Grandma Toadstool leaves and King Koopa assumes her identity. While he waits, the Wolf enters the house and has a falling out with the Koopa King. King Koopa manages to beat the wolf by calling in his Koopa Troopas, but the Wolf warns him he has made a mistake.

Toadstool finally reaches Grandma Toadstool's house and enters. She notices a few strange things about "Grandma"'s appearance, but no more than Little Red Riding Hood had in the original story. King Koopa jumps out of bed and attacks the Princess only to find she's not an easy target. Back in the village, Grandma Toadstool finds out she's been tricked and the Marios go after the Princess on King Koopa's snowmobile.

After a short chase, Toadstool finally manages to escape out of the house and into the woods. But King Koopa doesn't give up easy and surprises her again. The Princess once again manages to evade him but is captured soon after. Fortunately, the Marios catch up with King Koopa and start fighting him. Unfortunately, the Koopa Troopas arrive and show that they have captured Grandma Toadstool, forcing the Marios to retreat and allow King Koopa to take the Princess prisoner.

Out in a cave in the woods, King Koopa keeps both Princess and Grandma Toadstool prisoner and reveals that he stole all the wood in the land. However, he is soon confronted by a pack of wolves. Hoping to distract them, he hurls the Princess and her Grandmother to the wolves and flees. It is then revealed that the wolves were just the Marios in costumes supplied by the Big Bad Wolf. With King Koopa gone, the group returns the wood to the villagers and all is well.
