Line in the Sand is a 1-vs-Rivals mini-game in Mario Party 9.
Opening[]
The rivals run into the sand pen as they are being chased by the solo player, who is holding a stick. The solo character stops at the grassy area, and the camera focuses on the sand pen.
Gameplay[]
The solo character has to try and draw lines in the sand around the rivals to eliminate them within a time limit of thirty seconds. If a complete shape is made around a rival, the line darkens slightly, and any character inside its perimeter jump, indicating that they have been eliminated. If the solo character draws a line for too long without connecting it, the start of the line is erased. If the solo character manages to eliminate every rival on time, they win, but if there is at least one rival remaining when the time limit is reaches, the rivals win.
