Thunderbolt

Lightning is an item from the Mario Kart series. Usage will result in your adversaries shrinking. A similar item has the same effect, called the Thunderbolt.

Mario Kart 64

If you hit a lightweight and you are a heavyweight, you're going to knock that player out. If two lightweight competitors hit each other, they'll both be squashed. If they hit a Thwomp, they'll be squashed.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

If you've been disposed of, such as falling off a cliff, or have been hit by an item, the thunderbolt won't affect you. So if you see another competitor with a thunderbolt you'd better dispose of yourself very quickly.

Mario Kart Wii/Mario Kart DS

The lower your rank is at point of contact the faster your recovery. For example, a competitor in last place will recover considerably faster than someone whose first. The background music will also speed up and raise its pitch. In Mario Kart Wii especially, it may make your sense of tolerance fail as it's about as high-pitched as the Chipmunks. Also in Mario Kart Wii, if you're using a Mega Mushroom you'll be returned to normal size. So if some players hit you whilst on such substances, use this to hit him right back.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

When touched, it'll make either one of three things happen; it'll make the other combatants shrink, it'll make the user shrink, or it would make the other fighters grow.
