Lantern Ghosts are lantern-carrying Shy Guys that appear as enemies in the Yoshi's Island series and as a non-hostile species in Mario Party Advance. They make their first overall appearance in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

Lantern Ghosts are first encountered in The Cave Of Chomp Rock. If a Yoshi touches a Lantern Ghost, he takes damage, triggering the Countdown Timer with Baby Mario in a bubble. Like Shy Guys, Lantern Ghosts emerge from certain Warp Pipes if the Yoshi is not carrying up to six eggs with him.

Lantern Ghosts act the same as in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Yoshi's New Island[]
Lantern Ghosts retain the same behavior, although only the green ones are present.
In Mario Party Advance[]
A few Lantern Ghosts appear in the basement of Horror Condo in Mario Party Advance. They are a part of a Toad Force V fan club known as the TFV Fan Club, which includes the group's leader, also named Lantern Ghost, who asks the player to show them a Toad Force V Figure.
