Koopa General is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Kamek) of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The Koopa General is the leader of Bowser's army in the Koopa Kingdom.

Physical description[]
He is a Koopa Paratroopa sporting a blue-colored shell with spikes, blue boots, a blue-plated gorget with shoulder guards, and a blue spiked helmet with Bowser's symbol on it. Koopa General's shell is reminiscent to the appearances from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! to Mario Kart Wii where the Spiny Shell had wings.
Personality traits[]
Being the general of the Koopa Troop, Koopa General is more stern and rigid than his soldiers. He expresses loyalty to Bowser, following his orders. Knowing Bowser's motive was to get rid of Mario, he was willing to sacrifice his life, so when his kart is destroyed, the General steps out of the flames, completely unscathed, and knowing he would be committing suicide as a last-ditch effort to kill Mario and DK, he sprouts his Paratroopa wings, and tucks inside his shell and flies down the track until he is spinning over the duo, and dives down on DK’s kart. He ends up obliterating some of Rainbow Road itself.
One trait that stays consistent with him, loyalty aside, is his fearlessness. He demonstrated the least amount of fear and wimpyiness, even compared to Bowser and Kamek as the former is insecure about himself whenever competition for Peach is present, and Kamek can feel intimidated whenever his king is fuming.
Biography[]
Koopa General is the leader of Bowser's army in Koopa Kingdom. During the assault on the Snow Kingdom, he restrained the Penguin King while the army defeated the Snow Kingdom army and Bowser reclaimed the Star.Later he informed Bowser of how the Kongs intend to surprise them by taking a shortcut through the Rainbow Road and later guiding the counter-offensive by riding a giant bulldozer with maws towards Mario. After Mario and Donkey Kong blew his vehicle up, he emerged unharmed from the explosion. Enraged, he retracted in his shell and flies at the two, mimicking a Blue Spiny Shell, successfully exploding on them, destroying the track and causing them to plummet into the sea.

- His voice actor, Scott Menville, is famous for being the voice of Robin in Teen Titans and Redd Herring in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo.
- Many people speculated that the Koopa General was THE Blue Spiny Shell seen in the Mario Kart games, as he behaves just like it. This lead to many videos talking about the shell’s lore.
- Since his real name was not stated in the movie, some fans have taken to calling him "Blue Shell".
- His spiky helmet could possibly reference the Army Hammer Bro from Super Princess Peach.
- His alias in the movie credits is Koopa General, but the two words are switched around for marketable items of him.
- In a leaked concept art, it was shown that there were going to be more Koopa Troopas wearing the exact same armor as the General, color palette and all. For some unknown reason, this idea was scrapped and only the General wore the blue shell-inspired armor.
- Scott Menville also worked with Khary Payton, who voiced the Penguin King, in the TV series Teen Titans.

- Koopa General exploding onto Mario is a reference to the Mario Kart series' Blue Spiny Shell item—an infamous item that explodes on the lead racer stalling them in the air (racers near the explosion are affected as well).
- However, if Koopa General goes by the game's logic, he would have landed onto Princess Peach since she was in the lead during the race.
