Donkey Konga performing Konga Beat in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Upon activating Konga Beat, Donkey Kong pulls out two Bongos and starts playing a cover of "DK Island Swing." While he is playing, Donkey Kong releases shockwaves in time with the beat. The initial shockwaves are weak, but the attack can be made stronger by pressing the buttons in tune with each beat of the song. Donkey Kong is invincible during the move, though he is also unable to move during it. While there is no visual indication as to when to press the buttons to the beat in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, there is one in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U: a meter will appear above Donkey Kong and red circles will slide across it. Once a red circle enters the larger circle at the end of the meter, the player needs to tap a button to make the shockwave longer. At the end of the Final Smash, Donkey Kong will strike a pose based on how well the player pressed the buttons to the beat.

Donkey Kong's Final Smash would later be replaced by Jungle Rush in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and it involves him unleashing a flurry of punches instead.

Konga Beat is similar to Donkey Kong's musical attack in Donkey Kong 64, Bongo Blast. The bongos play a prominent role in the Donkey Konga games for the Nintendo GameCube and are also used as the controls for Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. In Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Donkey Kong can make similar circular waves when clapping to stun enemies.
