"Angel Island. A land of miracles. Of mysteries. My home. I am its guardian. I watch over the Master Emerald and every living thing here. That is to say, all plants and animals. Any other kind of civilization is long since disappeared from the island. I do things on my own and that's just how I like it. I don't need anyone else to get by. But sometimes... I wonder how things would be if I hadn't been given this responsibility. Why was I chosen for this duty? Perhaps it's karma..."
—Knuckles, Sonic Frontiers

Knuckles the Echidna, commonly known simply as Knuckles, is a red echidna from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. In the Mario & Sonic series, Knuckles competes against Mario and others in Olympic style events.

In Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, he was voiced by Dan Green, who also voiced Vector the Crocodile in that game. He was voiced by Travis Willingham from Sonic Free Riders up until Team Sonic Racing, where he is instead voiced by Dave Mitchell.

Profile[]

Personality[]

Knuckles is almost purely a loner. He is wild in nature but somewhat antisocial, because he is protecting the Master Emerald within its shrine on Angel Island. Knuckles sometimes leaves the island to find the current whereabouts of the Chaos Emeralds, or clue himself in on the ancient history and archeology of the planet Earth so he can better understand the way the Master Emerald and the world's energy works.

Knuckles comes across as uncaring, brutally honest, stern and demanding, due to his isolation. Nevertheless, Knuckles is a good, very modest, and spiritual character. He still believes there is a bit of good in anybody, and he is willing to give anyone at least one chance, even if it has led him to be quite gullible more than once.
