King Totomesu is a boss who appears in Super Mario Land. He is a large Gao who rules over the Birabuto Kingdom under Princess Daisy until he fell under Tatanga's control. King Totomesu is encountered near the end of World 1-3.
Physical description[]
King Totomesu is a large Gao that resembles a Sphinx. He wears an Egyptian headdress. His sprite depicts him with a goatee.
Battle[]
In battle, King Totomesu mainly attacks by spitting fireballs at Mario. King Totomesu can even jump while shooting fireballs.
Strategy[]
King Totomesu can be defeated by pressing the switch behind him. Alternately, he can be defeated by chucking several Superballs at him, and doing so earns the player 5,000 points.
In The Manga Adaptation[]
King Totomesu appears in the Super Mario Land manga, reprising his role as the Birabuto Kingdom. His weakness is found to be being pelted with Superballs, as revealed by the Mekauribō's sensors. However, after being hit with four, King Totomesu wises up and slashes Mario with a claw swipe. He is later stomped on, but manages to avoid damage. King Totomesu attempts another claw swipe, but misses this time, and is defeated when Mario stomps a close-by switch.
