Paper Mario

KP Pete, also commonly goes by his ring name King K, is a character who appears in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. He is a competitor at the Glitz Pit in Glitzville and one of the first people to become friends with Mario there. He is also the leader of the KP Koopas.

Profile[]

Physical description[]

King K is a KP Koopa which is a yellow version of a Koopa Troopa.

Personality traits[]

Unlike most characters in the Glitz Pit who are usually rude and competitive, King K is very friendly and doesn't show any hostility towards Mario. King K is also a good sport who isn't bothered by his loss to Mario unlike most of the others. He even offers advice to Mario whenever the latter comes from a fight. King K, however, does question his own strength at times and considered retiring. However, after he is rescued by Mario, King K decided not to retire anymore and becomes passionate about fighting again.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[]

When Mario, under the name of The Great Gonzales, first entered the minor league of the Glitz Pit, King K greeted him and introduced Mario to the other competitors. King K talked to Mario after winning every match he participated. Right before Mario fights the Punk Rocks, King K tells him that he is thinking about retiring. After Mario defeats Master Crash and the Bob-omb Squad, King K disappeared with the others, except Cleftor, missing him.

Eventually, it turned out that King K saw Grubba using the draining machine and Grubba drained his energy from him. King K was later restored to himself and competed in the Glitz Pit again. Bandy Andy of the Hand-it-overs has the same happen to him.

Trivia[]

  • In the original version of the game during the scene where everyone of the Glitz Pit was encouraging Mario, KP Pete's sprite was incorrectly replaced with that of a Shady Koopa's. However, this was fixed in the remake.
