Jelectros are glowing, electrical jellyfish enemies that first appear in Super Mario Bros. 3. They are typically invincible and mainly act as immobile hazards that can only be avoided.

History[]

Super Mario Bros. 3[]

Jelectro SMB3

A Jelectro

In Super Mario Bros. 3 and its reissues, Jelectros are uncommon enemies encountered in two levels, World 3-5 and World 7-4. They are invincible, so Mario or Luigi cannot defeat them with any attack, even while invincible, although the effect makes Mario or Luigi invincible to Jelectro.

In the Game Boy Advance remake Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, Jelectros are additionally featured within the World-e level Sea to Sky.

Super Mario Maker / Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS / Super Mario Maker 2[]

The Jelectro Field

The Jelectro's Territory.

After many years of absence, Jelectros return in the Super Mario Maker as well as it's two sequels, retaining their behavior from Super Mario Bros. 3 (remaining motionless and damaging Mario upon contact), they are also invincible as well and no attack can defeat them. In Super Mario Maker and Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, they are simply referred to as Spike Trapss, which they replace in Super Mario Bros. 3-styled courses, but Super Mario Maker 2 correctly identifies them as being Jelectros.

Other appearances[]

Jelectro has made a cameo appearance in two computer games, Super Mario Bros. Print World and Super Mario Bros. & Friends: When I Grow Up. In the former, Jelectro makes a cameo appearance in the Swimming Mario artwork, eyeing Mario as he jumps out of the water, and in the latter, it is featured on the "Marine Biologist" biologist page and even mentioned within the description.

In other media[]

Jelectros have made various appearances in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3. They also appear in the Nintendo Adventure Book Leaping Lizards.
