The Item stat, shown as the bottom stat on the Touch Screen.
Items is a stat in Mario Kart DS. The stat is affected by the size of a kart's hind wheels, such as a kart having large hind wheels would have a high item stat—while a kart with small hind wheels has a lower item stat. The higher the stat is, the more mushrooms will be available in a Time Trial, all the way up to 3 mushrooms.
