Super Mario

The Invincibility Leaf is a power-up item which first appears in Super Mario 3D Land.

Description[]

When using an Invincibility Leaf, the user changes into their White Tanooki form, which is a variation of the Tanooki Suit with the invincibility properties of a Starman, albeit without a time limit. When Mario or Luigi complete a level while in their White Tanooki form, the effects of the Invincibility Leaf wear off, changing them into their standard Tanooki form. Unlike a Starman, an Invincibility Leaf does not grant any added speed, jump velocity, or increments of points from defeating enemies in succession. Just like the Starman, an Invincibility Leaf does not grant invulnerability from falling into a pit, touching Poisoned Water, or lava.

In Super Mario series[]

Super Mario 3D Land[]

The Invincibility Leaf only appears after Mario loses five lives in a level that he has not yet completed. The Invincibility Leaf does not appear when revisiting a completed level or a level within a Special World. This means Luigi cannot obtain it unless any levels in the regular world are skipped, such as from using a Warp Zone. If this power-up appears, even if it is not collected, the stars on the save file cannot become shiny.

New Super Mario Bros. 2[]

The Invincibility Leaf has the same effect as in Super Mario 3D Land, but it instead changes Mario or Luigi into their White Raccoon form. The effects of the Invincibility Leaf cannot kill Iggy's Chain Chomp. The Invincibility Leaf cannot be replaced by any other items while it is active.

Super Mario 3D World[]

Invincibility Leaves return as a power-up item, and they appear after a player has lost on a certain level a certain number of times.
