Most of the mission takes place inside of a volcano in the center of Lethal Lava Land. The general layout of Lethal Lava Land is almost identical, so the mission can be completed out of sequential order. If the mission is accessed directly, a ! Block containing a Shiny Shell is added to the right end of the starting platform, and riding on it is an alternate way to enter the volcano's opening.
Objective[]
When starting the mission, Mario (or Yoshi, Luigi, or Wario) has to cross platforms to get a spinning circular platform surrounding the volcano. Once there, Mario has to jump inside the opening of the volcano. However, if he stands on the circle platform surrounding the volcano, it stops moving, and he has to avoid the fire as it starts erupting from the volcano. Alternatively, Mario can enter by collecting a Wing Cap to become Wing Mario and fly into the opening at the top.
Upon entering the volcano, Mario starts on a path at the very bottom. He has to follow it to the ledges that ring around the volcano's walls. As he continues upward, Mario encounters a few different types of obstacles, including several flamethrowers, Bullies, and a hidden smasher. After this, Mario has to jump across several platforms, one of which has a Spinning Heart. After this, Mario has to climb and jump between a few poles until reaching a high ledge, where the Power Star floats above a stone structure.
