Hit the M Blocks is the second level of World 1 in Yoshi's Island DS. A Pink Yoshi takes control in this level, the level takes place in a grassy field (similar to that of the previous level) with a nice view of the lustrous sea however this level takes place at night. A portion of the level also takes place in a cavern, levelwise, the level introduces M Blocks which can only be hit while Yoshi is carrying Baby Mario. Stork Stops also start appearing in this level after Catch the Breeze! is completed.
Layout[]
Starting off, move to the right while defeating the Crazee Dayzees travelling along the path, also, hit the M Blocks for some coins and grab the Red Coin (located atop an M Block above two aligned M Blocks). Continue along the path and hit the end M Block in the row of three which contains a Flower Plant which grows to the height of a platform, the platform contains a Smiley Flower, a couple M Blocks, and a Fly Guy holding a Red Coin. After collecting the goodies, move to the right and jump to a "cheese block" platform which holds an M Block containing two Stars, and a Red Coin. After this, continue along the path, hit the Winged Cloud to score some more Stars and then continue onward, shoot some eggs at the hovering coins as one Coin in either lot is a Red Coin, this will score you two Red Coins right there. Hit the two M Blocks to get some more eggs, then enter the Pipe.
After entering the Pipe, you will end up in the underground section, flutter across to the stone platform and hit the invisible Winged Cloud above to get some more Stars. Then advance back to the left and hop along the toadstools collecting the Red Coins on them whilst beating the Lantern Ghosts continue along the path and hop on the toadstools and collect some more Red Coins, launch an egg up at the Smiley Flower to collect it and continue along the path, hit the M Block there to reveal a Spring Ball and hop up to the ledge to get a stash of Coins, there is also a Baby Coin here but Baby Peach is required to obtain it. Drop back down and continue hopping across the toadstools whilst avoiding the Nipper Plants, hit the Fly Guy above carrying the Red Coin and tag the Middle Ring before hitting the M Blocks which causes another Spring Ball to appear. Hop up and grab the Coins and the Red Coins amongst them, after this grab the Key from the Baron von Zeppelin and use the Key to unlock the locked door which leads to the Flutter Challenge minigame, after this, advance back to the right and use the Spring Ball to return back aboveground.
Upon returning back aboveground, hit the M Block to make a Flower Plant bloom from it and climb the Flower Plant to reach the higher platform, high above, there is a Winged Cloud, hit the Winged Cloud to create a staircase which leads to a Pipe, grab the Red Coin underneath and enter the Pipe, the pipe takes you to a room high in the clouds with a ! Switch, dash get all the Coins that appear and the Smiley Flower at the end, you better run because the stone blocks rise after the switch is activated so if you're too slow, the final stone block will block the ledge with the Flower requiring some tough manuevers to have a shot at reaching it. After getting the goodies, exit through the pipe to return to the main level, advance to the right and you should find some Pointeys, jump on the Pointeys or toss eggs at them and grab the Red Coins and the Smiley Flower. After this, jump on the Flatbed Ferry to reach the higher ledge, hit the M Blocks here to score some more goodies, watch out for the Shy Guys here as you hop onto the Ferris Wheels to earn some more items, the last of the Red Coins are located along the largest Ferris Wheel and the final Smiley Flower is inside a Winged Cloud, hit the Winged Cloud then obtain your prize, another Winged Cloud here also contains some more Stars if you're short so hit this one too then advance to the right and jump through the GOAL! Ring to finish the level.
Baby Coin Location[]
During your first, you are unable to grab this Baby Coin as it requires Baby Peach but once you complete Catch the Breeze!, be sure to return to this level, there is a Stork Stop in the cavern, use Baby Mario to hit the lone M Block containing the Spring Ball and after that, switch to Baby Peach to hop up and obtain the Baby Coin.
