Hint Movies are a feature in New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Description[]

Hint Movies are short video clips that showcase various hints and tricks, and they can only be watched in Peach's Castle by hitting the block inside. The playable characters are invited here after going to their first Toad House. Some Hint Movies costs a certain number of Star Coins to unlock, but can only become available for purchase by meeting a certain objective in the level they are associated with.

There are a total of 65 Hint Movies, and some of the levels have a few Hint Movies associated with them. All 231 Star Coins are required to fully unlock every Hint Movie. Hint Movies can cost up to ten Star Coins, and those that showcase more exploitable shortcuts or higher difficulty generally cost more Star Coins.

There are four different types of Hint Movies, the type of which is displayed next to the level name on the menu:

Endless 1-Ups: Shows an exploitable way to get several or even unlimited extra lives.
Secret Goal: Mario takes a secret exit in the featured level.
Star Coin: Shows how to obtain one or more hard to reach Star Coins in the featured level. These Hint Movies are always free, unlike the other types.
Super Skills: Showcases a game developer's methods for clearing the featured level.
