WarioWare
Not to be confused with Heads-Up, a promotional Flash game for Super Mario Strikers.

Heads Up is a recurring microgame in the WarioWare series. The microgame made its first appearance in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! and WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$!, as one of the microgames in Jimmy T.'s Sports folder, and later returned in WarioWare Gold, also as one of Jimmy T's microgame.

Layout[]

A boy with a large baseball glove is in the foreground, while the pitcher is in the distant background.

Gameplay[]

The pitcher throws a ball, and the player has to move the boy left or right to catch it in his mitt. The pitcher sometimes throws a curve-ball. If the boy catches the baseball, the player wins the microgame, but if the ball either hits the screen or hits the boy's face, they lose.

Curve-balls do not return in the microgame's WarioWare Gold iteration, in which the pitcher instead throws the ball high in the air or has it bounce before reaching the boy.

Each difficulty level increasingly shrinks the size of the boy's mitt.

  • The ball shattering the screen is a fourth wall reference in that it appears as if the ball had broken through the system's screen.
