Green Fireballs are a variation of fireballs that first appear in the arcade title Mario Bros.. They are commonly associated with Luigi, most notably in the Super Smash Bros. series. Green Fireballs generally function slightly differently than regular Fireballs, although certain appearances have them act the same.

Green fireballs are featured as obstacles, and have a bit of differences in behavior from their regular counterparts, such as moving faster.
Super Smash Bros. series[]
The Green Fireball in Super Smash Bros. Melee
Green Fireball is Luigi's standard special move in every Super Smash Bros. installment, since his debut in the Nintendo 64 game Super Smash Bros., which is the first game to associate green fireballs with him. Green Fireball is generally similar to Mario's Fireball, but the main difference is that the Green Fireball travels straightforward rather than bounce on the ground.
Mario Kart: Double Dash!![]
Green Fireball is featured as Luigi's Special Item. It is functionally identical to Mario's Fireball, with the only difference being the color. The Green Fireball can only be used by Luigi, and not even King Boo or Petey Piranha can use it. By using his Special Item, Luigi can throw five green fireballs either frontward or backward.

Green Fireball is the Star Skill for Luigi as well as an item in Challenge mode. When Luigi uses the move while either batting or pitching, the ball is covered by light green flames, and is launched at a fast speed. If Luigi uses Green Fireball while batting, a fielder can get burnt briefly if they touch the ball while it is covered in green flames. Aside from its green coloration, the Green Fireball is very similar to Mario's Star Skill, Fireball.
In Challenge mode, the Green Fireball item can be bought from the item shop for 200 coins if Luigi is on the player's team. In doing so, Luigi can use his Star Skill within the mode. The icon for the Green Fireball item is very similar to the Fireball's but the Green Fireball's eyes are not lined vertically, making it appear sad.
Green Fireball does not return in Mario Super Sluggers, in which Luigi instead uses Tornado Ball when pitching and Tornado Swing while batting.
WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase[]
A Green Fireball appears in the microgame Dustpan as an obstacle that has to be avoided by Chiritori as it collects the crumpled pieces of paper lying around.
