Gray Coins are a variation of coins which mainly appear in Super Mario World and its remake Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2. Aside from this, Gray Coins made their only other appearance in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour.

If Mario or Luigi step on a Gray P Switch, they can turn enemies into Gray Coins for a limited amount of time. The first Gray Coin collected is worth 400 points, and the value of a Gray Coin successively increases each time one is collected while the Gray P-Switch is active, with points eventually changing to extra lives; two Gray Coins are worth 800 points, three Gray Coins are worth 1,000 points, four Gray Coins are worth 2,000 points, five Gray Coins are worth 4,000 points, six Gray Coins are worth 8,000 points, seven Gray Coins are worth a 1UP, eight Gray Coins are worth a 2UP, and nine or more Gray Coins are worth a 3UP.

In Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, all Gray Coins are worth 40 points in Coin Shoot mode.
