Gravity Spotlights are special objects in the Super Mario Galaxy games. They first appear in the first game, more specifically in Bowser's Galaxy Reactor.
Description[]
As their name implies, Gravity Spotlights have their own gravitational pull, which affects the surface that is hit by them. When Mario walks into one, he will be pulled along the spotlight's direction, and can thus walk on the surface that is illuminated by the spotlight's light. Gravity Spotlights come in two forms, but their colour is always blue. They can either have white streaks travelling down their length, meaning that Mario can use them to walk on the wall with his altered gravity, or they can have a white spiral line going down their length, meaning that entering them will cause Mario to be pulled in that direction. Leaving is impossible until the spotlight drops him off, after which it vanishes. Both variants appear in Bowser's Galaxy Reactor during the events of the first game and the latter variant appears as Mario makes his way to Bowser's lair. However, the spotlight will not appear until he breaks the lock that locks the door that it goes through.
