Grate Guy is a character and a boss who appears in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.
Physical description[]
Grate Guy is a jester who resembles Knife Guy except Grate Guy wears pink and white clothing. He also stands on a circus ball bearing the same colors and design as him.
In Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars[]
Mario and his party fight Grate Guy and his partner, Knife Guy, on the balcony of Booster Tower after Booster flees to Marrymore with Princess Toadstool. Grate Guy balances on his circus ball, similar to Lemmy Koopa.
Later on, after Grate Guy is defeated, he decides to open his very own casino hidden in Bean Valley. However, one is required to have the Bright Card to enter, and Mario can obtain one from Knife Guy. However, Grate Guy's Casino is known for having players lose many coins much to his delight. In the casino, Grate Guy challenges Mario to a chance game named Look the other way. Here, Mario has to anticipate which direction Grate Guy will look and look in a different direction from him. If Mario wins, Grate Guy generally gives him poor items such as a Moldy Mush, a Wilt Shroom, or a Rotten Mush. However, Mario occasionally receives valuable prizes, such as a Red Essence or a Kerokero Cola, and if Mario wins the minigame one hundred times, he is rewarded a powerful and reusable battle item, the Star Egg.
Battle[]
Unlike Knife Guy, Grate Guy puts up more of a fight in battle having more HP and moves. During one point of the battle, he and Knife Guy will fuse together making them even stronger.
Strategy[]
Although Grate Guy is indeed weak against Thunder-related attacks, Mario's team should take down Knife Guy first as he has lower HP. Then Mallow should use his Thunderbolt move to inflict damage to Grate Guy.
