Grabbing Ghosts are an enemy. in Luigi's Mansion and its Nintendo 3DS version.
Profile[]
Physical description[]
Grabbing Ghosts are relatively long lavender ghosts with a horizontally-shaped body.
Behavior[]
Grabbing Ghosts slowly fly behind Luigi, whom they try to choke by grabbing him, and Luigi cannot move while he is grabbed. A Grabbing Ghost has three variants—Cinema Ghosts, Mirror Ghosts, and Red Grabbing Ghosts—all of which behave identically, but unlike standard Grabbing Ghosts, the three variations gradually damage Luigi while choking him. Grabbing Ghosts constantly make gasping or wheezing noises while moving around.
In Luigi's Mansion[]
If a Grabbing Ghost grabs Luigi, the player has to shake the Control Stick so that Luigi can throw off the Grabbing Ghost. A Grabbing Ghost has only ten HP, and Luigi can defeat one by vacuuming away all of its HP using the Poltergust 3000.
Grabbing Ghosts are first encountered in the Bathroom. After Luigi has vacuumed in both Grabbing Ghosts, the Bathroom lights turn on, and Luigi receives a call on his Game Boy Horror from Professor E. Gadd, who provides him with advice on how to fight the Grabbing Ghosts. E. Gadd notes that Luigi struggled with the Grabbing Ghosts, regardless if Luigi had even been grabbed by one.
