Goomba's Booty Boardwalk is a board in Mario Party 8 hosted by Captain Goomba.
Description[]
It is a long linear board, designed to look like a beach and market inhabited by Goombas and Piantas. The first part is a small market made to look like the market in Island Delfino. The course then goes onto a beach where the player can find multiple Dolphin Expresses with Dolphins offering to take the player a specific number of spaces. (In the Party Tent version, there are three normal Dolphins.) The Candy Craft a floating Candy Shop selling candy. The path continues past the beach into a mountainous area and finally a large volcano with Captain Goomba and a vast supply of stolen treasure. When the player reaches the end, Captain Goomba (host of the board) gives the player a free star, before they are sent back to start by seagulls. The star is free, so the player can use the Dolphin expresses (which serve as shortcuts) to ride the dolphins. (However, the player is forced to trade a specific number of coins to ride the dolphins.)
Interesting spaces[]
Happening Space[]
There are seven total Happening Spaces:
- Three of which are a Pianta throwing the player forward five to seven spaces on the board.
- Two of which are a Pianta fishing when he pulls up a candy instead of a fish. He decides to give the candy the player.
- Another green space involves a complaining pirate Goomba who can't find buried treasure in a large shipwreck. The player goes in and comes out with a chest containing either coins or candy.
- The final green space is three spaces away from Captain Goomba is the worst Green Space on this board. It is the worst because if the player lands on it, three Pirate Goombas appear. And they stuff the player into their ship's cannon and shoot them back to start.
Lucky Space[]
A Dolphin (a fourth Dolphin --seen only on the Lucky Space area) takes the player to a secret sacred island eastern of the Booty Boardwalk. On the lucky island, there is a small path of Blue Spaces (each with three coins). This is five Blue Spaces long, so the player can get a total of 15 coins. And a large treasure chest (guarded by the Goomba Deitys) appears with a star in it. Upon reaching the chest, they summon two Goomba Deitys. He begs the player to take the star and go away so he can sleep. Then he gives the player a star and sends them back to the Lucky Space. That is, so the player can continue the board from there.
DK and Bowser Space[]
For the DK Space, Donkey Kong will suddenly appear on a lifeguard's platform. He then tells the player to deposit 5 coins into a DK Barrel. The player gets 3 seconds to shake the DK Barrel. The better they do, the more coins they get back. They can get up to 25 coins. (The minimum number of coins they can get is 11, while the maximum is 25.) If the player has zero coins, Donkey Kong gives them 10 coins as a gift. For the Bowser Space, Bowser appears on the lifeguard's platform. The player's minigame is the Podoboos. Three Podoboos appear and the player must avoid them. The Podoboos attack the player 3 times. Each time the player doesn't dodge the attack, the Podoboos hit them, and they lose 10 coins for each successful hit. In total, the player loses 30 coins (10 for each successful hit). If the player has zero coins, Bowser gives them 10 coins.
In Star Battle Arena[]
In Star Battle Arena, this board is the second stage. In the Star Battle Arena version, the star costs 50 coins. The player or the opponent wins by acquiring one star (which is 50 coins). If they --either the player or the opponent-- gets to Captain Goomba first (with 50 coins), he gives them a star. And they win.
This is similar to the Solo Cruise version of Pagoda Peak (from Mario Party 7). However, the star (in the Solo Cruise version of Pagoda Peak in Mario Party 7) is 100 coins.
In Star Battle Arena, the following changes have been made:
- The Candy Craft --the candy shop-- is closed and the only way the player (or the opponent) can get candy is by passing Candy Spaces.
- Dolphins (via Dolphin Expresses) do not charge for a ride across the island. They --the Dolphin Expresses-- are closed, unless the player or the opponent lands on the corresponding Green Space (for it). The dolphins are a free of charge.
- The reason why dolphins (via Dolphin Expresses) occur on the corresponding Green Space is because the star is 50 coins in the Star Battle Arena version. In the Party Tent version, the star is free, so the Dolphin shuttles are shortcuts. But in Star Battle Arena, they are part of the board's path (if the player --or the opponent-- lands on the Green Space). It is an event from the Green Space (part of the board's path) and not a shortcut. So they only appear on the corresponding Green Space.
- Challenge and Duel Spaces have been added.
- The star (from Captain Goomba) is 50 coins.
- If the player makes it to Captain Goomba with less than 50 coins (and can't pay for the star), Captain Goomba lets them roll a coin block. (The player in the effects of the yellow candies or Thwomp Candy --a blue candy-- this has no effect. That is, even though Coin Block Area spaces --in Star Battle Arena-- are usually bypassed, as well as Candy Shops. So the Coin Block on the player --in the effects of the yellow candies or Thwomp Candy-- still occur so the player can get coins. But this only occurs in the Star Battle Arena version of this stage.) Then the captain, he sends his crew (the Pirate Goombas). And the Pirate Goombas, they stuff the player into the cannon and launch the player back to start.
- The path to Captain Goomba is linear and no longer features the small village at the start.
Trivia[]
- This is the only board to have a different Start Space in Star Battle Arena due to the board being smaller.
- Despite the Candy Craft --candy shop-- is closed (on the Star Battle Arena version of this stage), orange female Piantas still run the candy shop. (That is, since they are still seen there.)
- This is the only stage of Star Battle Arena which allows the player to use a Coin Block (even in the effects of yellow candies or the Thwomp Candy). That is, provided by Captain Goomba (of which he does if the player makes it to him with less than 50 coins and can't pay for the star).
- Booty means treasure.
