Gooey Goons are blob creatures that hang from the ceiling (similar to a Scuttlebug) appearing as enemies in Yoshi's Island DS. Gooey Goons come in a variety of different heights and five different colors (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, and Purple). They start out just resting on the ceiling but as soon as Yoshi approaches, the Gooey Goon will stretch itself down and start swinging around hoping to hit Yoshi, Gooey Goons can't be beaten with stomps but they can be defeated with an egg toss or by swallowing them. Gooey Goons appear in three levels, those being Gilbert the Gooey's Castle, Bessie Bass's Battleship, and Castle of Priscilla the Peckish.
Gilbert the Gooey is the leader of the Gooey Goons, he starts out as a regular yellow Gooey Goon but Kamek uses his magic on him to transform him into a monstrous peach-colored Gooey Goon with twenty colorful blobs all over him.
If hit with an egg, Gooey Goons can also be made to appear in the Island Museum, here, they appear in the Subterranean Enemy Exhibit.

- The Gooey Goon's in the levels always change color with each visit and they're never always the same color (for example one may be red on one visit and then purple the next), the only exceptions to this are Gilbert the Gooey (who always starts out as a Yellow Gooey Goon before he is enlarged) and the Gooey Goons in the Museum (who always retain the same colors in the area they're placed in).
