Gold Lakitus are a variant of Lakitu which first appear in New Super Mario Bros. 2 and reappear in Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World.

Physical description[]
A Gold Lakitu resembles a regular Lakitu but has a gold-colored shell, a light yellow belly, and wears glasses with a yellowish-brown frame. Gold Lakitus ride around in a golden Lakitu's Cloud.
Behavior[]
In New Super Mario Bros. 2, rather than throw Spiny Eggs like regular Lakitus, a Gold Lakitu instead throws groups of three Coins down at Mario or Luigi. In Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World, a Gold Lakitu drops golden Beads instead.

Whenever a Gold Ring has been activated, every Lakitu transforms into a Gold Lakitu. If Mario or Luigi defeat a Gold Lakitu, they earn 20 coins, and the Gold Lakitu's cloud becomes available to ride in. Mario or Luigi can earn coins from riding around in a Gold Lakitu's cloud in a similar manner to a Gold Block. When the Gold Ring's effects wear off, the Gold Lakitus and their clouds all return to normal.
In Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World[]
A Gold Lakitu appears in Gold Rush Mode of the Poochy Dash minigame. Here, Poochy collects the gold Beads dropped by Gold Lakitu throughout the minigame as it moves to the right at Poochy's speed.
