Gold Ghosts are a type of ghost which first appear in Luigi's Mansion for Nintendo GameCube.

Profile[]

Physical description[]

A Gold Ghost, despite its name, has an orange body with yellow eyes and two small teeth on its upper jaw. Gold Ghosts are generally shown to be smiling.

Behavior[]

In Luigi's Mansion, like other regular ghost enemies, Gold Ghosts travel after Luigi. If it gets close enough, the Gold Ghost tries to punch him. If the Gold Ghost is successful, it laughs before vanishing, but later reappears again. Gold Ghosts make various minor appearances in Mario spinoffs, but act the same as the other ghosts that appear alongside them.

Variants[]

Gold Ghosts have a few variants, including Speedy Spirits and Temper Terrors. Bowling Ghosts are a possible relative of theirs.

In Luigi's Mansion[]

Gold Ghost is the first type of ghost encountered by Luigi in Luigi's Mansion. Gold Ghosts are one of the most common ghosts found within the mansion. Gold Ghosts usually appear in groups of two or more, and they can be damaged from any element. A Gold Ghost has 10 HP.

A Gold Ghost is first seen in the Foyer as a foggy cloud carrying a key, which then passes through a door into the Parlor. When Luigi first enters the Parlor after unlocking it, he is ambushed by a Gold Ghost while nervously walking through the room, but he is saved by Professor E. Gadd when he uses the Poltergust 3000 to try and vacuum up the Gold Ghost. However, the Gold Ghost ends up punching E. Gadd down, laughs, and then disappears. Shortly after E. Gadd introduces himself to Luigi, three Gold Ghosts appear together, prompting the two to quickly leave the room and to Professor E. Gadd's Lab.

Gold Ghosts are the only enemies in the Training Room, and while they travel after Luigi, these Gold Ghosts do not try to punch him, unlike the ones in the mansion. The intent of these Gold Ghosts is for Luigi to vacuum them up to practice using the Poltergust 3000, which E. Gadd gave to him.

In The Artist's Studio, three Gold Ghosts are the first wave of ghosts that Vincent Van Gore brings to life via a Gold Ghost painting. In the Hidden Mansion, Vincent Van Gore instead paints five of the Gold Ghosts to life.

Even though its one of the easiest Ghost to beat in the game, it relies on using sneak attacks to scare Luigi in order to attack him. As with most ghosts, to capture it, Luigi must first have to use his flashlight on it and use the Poltergust 3000 to vacuum it up.

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga / Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions[]

A Gold Ghost briefly appears in Starbeans Cafe, after the Mario Bros. brew their first drink. The Gold Ghost gives Luigi a scare, but is then vacuumed up by Professor E. Gadd.
