The Gold Flower is a power-up that only appears in New Super Mario Bros. 2. Obtaining it turns Mario into Gold Mario and Luigi into Silver Luigi.

Whenever a player visits any Rainbow Course except for World 1's, they can collect 8 red coins to receive a Gold Flower, which is immediately pocketed for later use. When the player uses it as a power-up, they become Gold Mario or Silver Luigi, and can throw gold/silver fireballs that turn everything they touch into coins. The amount of coins given depends on the enemy or object and whether a Gold Ring is active or not.

If you die or get to the end of a level or get hit you will lose the Gold flower and instead have a Normal Fire Flower instead. World 2-1 is the first level in which the Gold Flower appears.
