Super Mario

The goal is an object in Super Mario Land.

Description[]

A goal is a tower located at the end of most levels. A goal has two entrances: one at the base that sends Mario directly to the next level, and one at the top that allows him to play a bonus game for a Superball Flower or extra lives first. Mario has to enter either of a goal's entrances to complete the level. The lower entrance can always be reached easily, being preceded by a screen-width of flat ground with no obstacles or enemies, although the higher entrance requires more effort to reach.

In Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, there is a similar yet different type of goal, which replaces the higher entrance with a Bonus Bell.

In Super Mario Land[]

In World 1-1, reaching the higher entrance involves navigating two lifts, one vertical and one horizontal.

Various levels involve individual dropping lifts that fall instantly when Mario touches it, giving only one chance to reach the upper entrance. This is noticeable in World 3-2, where the single-chance jumps required extends beyond the goal screen itself.
