"Glasnuts" is the forty-ninth live-action segment of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. It is paired with the animated episode "Plummers Academy."
Plot[]
Mario and Luigi receive a call from someone who claims to be the President of the United States. Neither of them believes it and Mario even makes the common joke of the refrigerator running. The President explains that Mikhail Gorbachev is to come to their basement. Neither one of them believes it.
However, to Mario and Luigi's surprise, Mikhail Gorbachev comes to the basement, in search of the Bros.' expertise on making pizzas. As Gorbachev comes to make his own pizza, he puts on all sorts of bizarre toppings: Borscht, Ukrainian Sour Cream, and Caviar. The Marios are horrified believing that it'll start an international incident. But, in the end, Gorbachev is pleased with the results, and intends to to honor the Marios back in Russia, where he will open a chain of pizza parlors.

- The title is a pun on "Glasnost."
- This is one of the few instances on the series where the cartoon and the corresponding live-action segment have a related theme.
- This is the second time the President of the United States has called Mario Bros. Plumbing, the first time being in "Caught in a Draft."
