The Giant Eggs are a massive variation of Yoshi Eggs that mainly appears in the Yoshi platforming games. They first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[]

A Yoshi can obtain a Giant Egg from eating Fat Guy, converting it into a Giant Egg in the process. If a Yoshi throws a Giant Egg, it gives off a shockwave attack that defeats all enemies on-screen, turning them into Stars. A Giant Egg is the only way to completely defeat an Eggo-Dil so that it does not return.

There are red Giant Eggs that are only used in the boss fight against Baby Bowser, after Kamek had turned him into a giant. During this part, Giant Eggs are instead provided by Baron von Zeppelins, and Yoshi can attack Big Baby Bowser by throwing these Eggs at him, until he is eventually defeated by Yoshi.

In Mario Kart series[]

A Giant Egg is featured as an obstacle in Yoshi Valley, near the last stretch before the grassy area and the finish line. The egg slowly moves around in a circular pattern. If a racer drives into the Giant Egg, it squishes them temporarily. The Giant Egg is hard to avoid, given its large size and how it takes up most of the space in which it moves.

Mario Kart DS[]

In Yoshi Falls, a Giant Egg sits in the middle of a lake, but it has no effect on the race, as it is normally unreachable.

Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]

The Giant Egg returns as an obstacle in the games' iteration of N64 Yoshi Valley. The Giant Egg has lost a lot of mass, making it easier to avoid, and some Coins now appear in its trail.
