Galaxy Rally is a Special Game in Mario Tennis Open. It is played on the Galaxy Arena court.

Gameplay[]

The player's character has have to rebound the ball to Luma successfully a certain number of times, depending on the difficulty level. If the player's character is Luma, the CPU is instead a blue Luma. After the player's character serves the ball, when the ball bounces on one of the four shrinking platforms on the court, that platform disappears, putting that section of the court out of play temporarily until another shrinking platform replaces it. The player loses a try if the ball falls through the open space left by a missing shrinking platform, or if either the player's character fails to return the ball or the ball bounces outside the boundary line. When the player's character successfully rebounds the ball, the previous empty shrinking platform area is restored while another disappears. At first, only one of the four shrinking platforms is missing, then after 40 rebounds, two of the shrinking platforms are missing, and lastly, after 80 rebounds, three of the four shrinking platforms may be missing.

There are Star Chips on the visible shrinking platforms, and if the tennis ball intersects any of them, the player's character can receive two coins while a section of the Launch Star meter is filled. For every consecutive intersection, the number of coins that a Star Chip gives is increased by two. Collecting all five Star Chips forms a Launch Star. If the ball touches the Launch Star, the player receives five coins, and the Launch Star moves to another visible shrinking platform. Every consecutive intersection with the Launch Star increases the number of coins received by five. No more than 9,999 coins can be obtained. The Launch Star's meter gradually depletes until becoming empty, causing it to disappear and for the Star Chips to reappear. Collecting coins or Star Chips is not a requirement for winning.
