Frogoons are a type of enemy which first appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns.
Profile[]
Physical description[]
Frogoons are light green frogs with dark green spots on their back. They have a yellow variant named Hopgoon.
Behavior[]
In Donkey Kong Country Returns, Frogoons often appear together in groups. They repeatedly jump up and down in one spot. They can inflate their body while in midair to hover up slightly higher. A Frogoon can be defeated from being jumped onto, causing it to deflate and blow away offscreen. A minor detail is that Frogoons sometimes try to catch and eat a small fly between their jumps.
In the Mario Kart series, Frogoons do not have the ability to inflate themselves, and instead only hop around. In Mario Kart 7, Frogoons make two consecutive jumps before turning around, while in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, they only jump once.
In Mario Kart series[]
Mario Kart 7[]
Frogoons are one of the obstacles to appear in DK Jungle. If a racer drives into a Frogoon, they spin out and lose three coins, like with a Tiki Goon.
Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]
Frogoons retain their role of being obstacles in 3DS DK Jungle.
In WarioWare: Get It Together![]
Frogoons appear in certain difficulty levels of the Donkey Kong Country Returns microgame, as one of the enemies that have to be defeated.
Behind the scenes[]
Etymology[]
Their name is a portmanteau of "frog" and "goon."
