Frog Pirate

Frog Pirates are a frog enemy featured in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and its Game Boy Advance remake Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3.

Prince Froggy is a Frog Pirate himself, although his appearance is identical to them, given he was never enlarged by Kamek. Prince Froggy has made a few more appearances than Frog Pirates themselves.

In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[]

Frog Pirates are mainly encountered within the wetland areas of World 3, especially at swamps, just like real-world frogs. A Frog Pirate has a long tongue like a Yoshi's, and if a Frog Pirate is close to a Yoshi, it quickly lashes out its tongue to try and steal Baby Mario. A Yoshi can defeat a Frog Pirate by either throwing an egg at it or by swallowing it, converting the Frog Pirate into an egg. Stomping a Frog Pirate only stuns it for a few seconds.
