Fortress Zokket is a major location from Mario & Luigi: Brothership. It is first seen in the Gulchrock Sea and visited near the end of the Gulchrock Sea chapter, but later crashes down into the Stormstar Sea, which becomes its final resting place. Zokket uses this place as his base, and his forces also guard the place. Technikki names the place when she, Mario, Luigi, Connie, the IDLE gang, and the rest of the crew of Shipshape Island observe Glohm flying out of the fortress. After the Bros. kill Zokket, Reclusa creates the Soli-Tree, preventing the fortress's original iteration from being visited again.
Description[]
Fortress Zokket's design resembles that of Zokket himself, with the central and main spire bearing a resemblance to his top hat, and claws to the sides.
History[]
Fortress Zokket is first seen as Mario and Luigi enter the Gulchrock Sea, where Bowser and his army are fighting Zokket's forces. Bowser breaks from his attack on the fortress to attack Shipshape Island, resulting in Heatfreeze island and Twistee Island getting disconnected as the Bros. jump ship to escape.
Eventually, the Bros. and Connie infiltrate the Gulchrock Sea's Great Lighthouse, which Connie activates. After she does so, Mario and Luigi leave Shipshape Island via the Cannon to storm the fortress. Mario and Luigi eventually make their way to the top floor, where Bowser confronts Zokket and the Extension Corps in an attempt to rescue his son. Zokket's Glohmatic Quad-Ray activates, blasting Bowser with copious amounts of Glohm and causing him to become feral and hostile. Mario and Luigi defeat the resultant monster (and presumably force-feed Bowser an Ampberry, if the thrashing itself did not cure the infection). However, Zokket envelopes his fortress with more Glohm, so the Bros. are forced out. Zokket then lands his fortress in the Stormstar Sea and erects a Glohm fence around it. Only after Technikki or Adaphne modifies Shipshape to bypass the barrier can the Bros. return to the fortress.
After they and either Technikki or Adaphne modify Shipshape Island, the Bros. use the engine's new function to bypass the Glohm fence surrounding the fortress before eventually storming it. Inside, Zokket tells the Extension Corps to make sure the Bros. fail their mission; when the two parties meet within the fortress, the Extension Corps separates Mario and Luigi, but the Bros. manage to reunite. Mario and Luigi fight the Extension Corps not long later, defeating the trio and causing them to flee out of fear that Zokket will make them pay for not following his orders. Mario and Luigi then confront Zokket himself, who tries to kill them for disrupting the ritual to resurrect Reclusa. Mario and Luigi kill Zokket, but the desecrator of the Uni-Tree donates the last of his energy to the egg, giving Reclusa the energy it needs to reawaken. Mario, Luigi, and Cozette (who is rescued during the evacuation) get back to Shipshape Island as Reclusa erects his own fortress, the Soli-Tree.
