Footrace with Koopa the Quick

Footrace with Koopa the Quick (はくねつノコノコレース Hakunetsu Nokonoko Rēsu^?, Heated Koopa Troopa Race) is the second mission in Bob-omb Battlefield in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. The mission reappears in Super Mario 3D All-Stars.

Objective[]

Super Mario 64[]

In this mission, the objective is to race a Koopa Troopa, known as Koopa the Quick. After talking to him, the race will commence. The mission is quite simple, as Koopa the Quick really isn't that quick. However, the player must avoid taking the cannon, as Koopa the Quick will count that as cheating and Mario will be disqualified from the race. However, the player is able to use teleport in the mountain. After reaching the top first, Koopa the Quick will award the player a Power Star. However, if Koopa the Quick wins, the Power Star will not be awarded to Mario.

Super Mario 64 DS[]

In this version of the game, if Yoshi goes up to Koopa the Quick, he will ask for him to bring Mario to him. And this is where the game introduces the main mechanic of the DS remake. The player must find a Mario Cap and transform into Mario. After talking to Koopa the Quick as Mario, the race will commence. The same rules apply to the N64 version. Also, if the player takes a hit from a enemy and attempts to finish the race as Yoshi, Koopa the Quick will state that Mario must have ran off and the player will not be awarded the Power Star. Also, the same rules apply if this mission is done as Luigi or Wario.
